Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936) bol britský romanopisec, básnik a novinár, nositeľ Nobelovej ceny za literatúru 1907. Narodil sa v Bombaji a vyrastal v Britskej Indii, čo zásadne ovplyvnilo jeho tvorbu. Preslávil sa bestsellerom Kniha Džunglí s Mauglím a románom Kim. Kipling bol prvým anglicky píšucim nositeľom Nobelovej ceny a dodnes najmladším laureátom.
