'DeNiro is easy on screen, but off screen he is shy and embarrassed when photographed and always had a goofy smile.' Nonetheless, Schapiro's photography immortalized the young actor in one of his finest and most powerful roles. This book features hundreds of images selected from Schapiro's "Taxi Driver" archive, 95 per cent of which have never previously been published. This title includes a foreword by Martin Scorsese! About the Author
Steve Schapiro is a distinguished journalistic photographer whose pictures have graced the covers of Time, Sports Illustrated, Life, Look, Paris Match, and People, and are found in many museum collections. He has published two books of his work, American Edge and Schapiro's Heroes. In Hollywood he has worked on more than 200 motion pictures; his most famous film posters are for Midnight Cowboy, Taxi Driver, Parenthood, and The Godfather Part III. Paul Duncan has edited 50 film books for TASCHEN, including the award-winning The Ingmar Bergman Archives, and authored Alfred Hitchcock and Stanley Kubrick in the Film Series.
